Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Domestic Violence Child Welfare Advocate to join our team at Harbor House of Central Florida. This is an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with child welfare professionals, law enforcement, and community partners to enhance the safety of survivors and their children in domestic violence situations.

About the Role

The successful candidate will serve as a consultant and advocate, providing expert guidance on domestic violence cases involving child welfare. This will involve collaborating with DCF's Child Protective Investigations Unit to manage and support child welfare cases, providing immediate crisis intervention and case management services to clients, and communicating effectively with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a consultant and advocate for survivors and children in domestic violence situations.
  • Collaborate with DCF's Child Protective Investigations Unit to manage and support child welfare cases.
  • Provide immediate crisis intervention and case management services to clients.
  • Communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including public speaking and facilitating training.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of programs and practices through training and best practices.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an undergraduate degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of intimate partner violence, child protective investigations, and the dependency court process.
  • Strong case management skills, with the ability to respond effectively in crisis situations.
  • Proficient in public speaking, with the confidence to facilitate training and engage with community partners.
  • Intermediate computer skills are required.
  • Must attend a 3-day training to become CORE certified before working with survivors.
