Chemical Materials Specialist

At Heritage Environmental Services, we are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious individual to join our team as a Field Chemist. As a Field Chemist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous materials and waste at our onsite location.
Main Responsibilities:
- Ensure Health & Safety is the top priority by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
- Assist in the segregation of chemicals by hazard class, packing compatible materials in suitable containers, and preparing necessary paperwork per job.
- Determine and load supplies needed for job completion and travel to various industry, laboratory, and school sites to perform lab pack services.
- Assist in characterizing materials at field project sites.
- Follow proper placarding and load segregation requirements when transporting hazardous materials.
- Develop strong client relationships by effectively communicating with customers.
- Direct Field Technicians/Drivers assisting with waste collection.
- Have introductory knowledge of high hazard materials management/assessment and cylinder handling.
- Operate a forklift as required.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; four-year college degree preferred (science or environmental majors preferred) or 2+ years related experience required.
- Prior lab packing or environmental waste experience preferred.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function.
- Good knowledge and understanding of all federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to the Environmental Services Industry.
- Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with internal and external contacts.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical, DOT physical, and drug screen; obtain a Class B CDL w/ hazmat endorsement within 6 months of hire date.
- Ability to pass Motor Vehicle Record search to company standards.
- Will be required to become Level A response trained within one year of employment.
