Job Description

Safely oversee all site operations and employees, ensuring equipment is in proper working order. Provide leadership for positive employee-employer relations, project a professional corporate image, effective resource management, sound risk management, high production standards, and business expansion.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Sustain a productive workforce by screening, selecting, hiring, training, developing, and evaluating personnel to meet service commitments.
  • Adhere to wage and hour laws, compensating personnel according to established guidelines.
  • Maintain safe working conditions at each job site.
  • Develop and implement an effective preventive maintenance program to reduce downtime, maintenance costs, and lowest cost of service possible.
  • Schedule and conduct safety meetings, documenting attendees and topics covered.
  • Ensure employees follow safety guidelines and perform duties safely.
  • Maintain necessary records.
  • Manage inventory of supplies and materials.
  • Operate equipment as necessary.
  • Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, ordinances, and company policies.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of experience in the waste industry (landfill or transfer operations preferred).
  • One year of supervisory experience.
  • A combination of education and/or experience.
  • For Transfer Stations, possess a SWANA certified transfer station operator within 60 days of hire.
  • For Landfills, have one year of experience operating a horizontal baler and bobcat/forklift, and successfully complete training for certification in removing Freon and handling hazardous materials.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

You should possess:

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and management skills.
  • The ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, instruction manuals, routing reports, and correspondence.
  • The ability to satisfactorily perform all required duties.
  • The ability to regularly lift/move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
Physical and Mental Demands

This role requires:

  • The ability to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, climb, balance, taste, and smell.
  • Closing vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • The ability to regularly lift/move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions

You will work in an outdoor environment approximately 70% of the time, exposed to:

  • Loud noise, humidity, hot and cold weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, vibration, toxic and caustic chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles.
  • Occasional work in high precarious places.
  • Noisy environments.
Salary

$65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
