Job Description:
This is a permanent, full-time opportunity to work as an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) in a dynamic residential program located in Brooklyn, NY. As an RN, you will be responsible for providing evaluation, diagnosis, and therapeutic intervention to residents with developmental disabilities. Your expertise will be invaluable in developing and implementing individualized health care plans, conducting training sessions for staff, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, supervise implementation of, review and revise each resident's written health care plan according to instructions from physicians and assessments.
- Integrate therapeutic intervention techniques into programs or homes through consultation with parents/guardians and staff at team meetings, case conferences, or informal contacts.
- Develop written plans for each resident to provide nursing services as part of total habilitation programs.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and annual reviews as required by each division.
- Monitor required staff health records and conduct tests in accordance with regulatory agency requirements.
- Conduct training for staff in medical administration, personal hygiene, basic first aid, dental hygiene, infection control, adaptive equipment, vital signs, signs and symptoms of illness, and other in-services as necessary.
- Handle control of communicable diseases and infections through identification and assessment, reporting to consulting physicians, and implementation of protective and preventive measures and staff training.
Requirements:
- A graduate of an accredited program of professional nursing with at least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse working with individuals with developmental disabilities in a community-based health services setting.
- Valid New York State Driver's License (preferred)
- License and current registration as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York
- CPR certification
