After School Program Lead Educator

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Before and After School Program Lead Teacher to join our team at the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids. This is an exciting opportunity to work with school age children, providing a safe, fun, and supportive environment that fosters their physical, emotional, and social development.
About the Role:
The Before and After School Program Lead Teacher will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing daily lesson plans that meet the needs of our participants. This will include organizing games and activities, preparing materials, maintaining records of attendance and arrival and departure times, and supervising children. The successful candidate will also be expected to conduct parent-teacher conferences annually and maintain the quality and quantity of supplies, equipment, and materials in the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead daily lesson plans that promote learning and engagement among school age children
- Organize and participate in games and activities that foster physical, emotional, and social development
- Prepare weekly lesson plans for parents and provide regular updates on individual activities
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, arrival and departure times, and other important information
- Safely supervise children at all times, ensuring their well-being and safety
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement effective programming strategies
- Conduct parent-teacher conferences annually to discuss progress and goals
- Maintain the quality and quantity of supplies, equipment, and materials in the classroom
Requirements:
- Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college in a youth development related field, or current enrollment in degree program required
- Six months to one year youth development related experience; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Able to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles
- Able and willing to work with school age children

Compensation:
$16.43 - $20.54 per hour, non-exempt, part-time position (up to 25 hours/week)
This role offers a shift premium of $2/hour for staff who work both before school program hours and after school program hours in the same day.
