Construction Administrator

The State of North Carolina is seeking a skilled Construction Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our Facilities Maintenance Section, you will be responsible for managing informal contracts associated with park infrastructure facilities. Your expertise in construction trades, blueprints, and building codes will be essential in ensuring projects meet state standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Submit, bid, monitor, inspect, and approve informal contracts following state building codes and regulations.
Create and submit complex drawings, specifications, and construction estimates to the State Construction Office.
Ensure projects meet state environmental and construction codes and standards.
Develop contract specifications, hold pre-bid meetings, receive sealed bids, award contract projects, submit invoices, and perform project finals and closeouts.
Requirements:
Associate's degree in construction management, air conditioning, heating and refrigeration technology, industrial maintenance technology, or mechanical engineering technology from an accredited institution.
Three years of progressive experience in construction or facility maintenance, including two years of supervisory experience in construction, maintenance, and repair of buildings and facilities.
Ability to travel statewide with frequent overnight stays and obtain a valid NC driver's license within 90 days of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with NC building and accessibility codes, National Electrical Code, and NFPA regulations.
Ability to effectively write specifications, informal contracts, and solicit bids.
Ability to communicate with diverse audiences to conduct pre-bid meetings and construction meetings.
