Position Overview

This role is responsible for providing journeyman-level work on plumbing and related mechanical systems for university facilities. The position will coordinate work efforts with the shop supervisor, building users, and other trade groups. It will respond to, diagnose, and resolve plumbing emergencies.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Install, maintain, and repair all plumbing fixtures, systems, and related equipment
  2. Test backflow assemblies and record results
  3. Install gas, compressed air, piping, and insulation
  4. Perform minor maintenance and repairs to safety systems
  5. Maintain sewer pipes and clear blockages
  6. Winterize systems subject to freezing temperatures
  7. Test and record water quality in swimming pools
  8. Maintain and operate programmable controls for water treatment systems
Requirements
  • Working as a plumber following codes applicable to plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair
  • Current State of Idaho Journeyman Plumber license
  • IDAPA 07.02.05 State of Idaho Backflow Assembly Tester License
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet policy requirements for driving university-owned vehicles
  • Ability to respond to emergency calls within one hour and serve on weekend call-out duty on a regular rotation
