Payroll Expert for Multi-State Operations

About Us: MiMedx, a leading provider of advanced biomaterials, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Payroll Specialist to join our team.
Job Summary: As a Senior Payroll Specialist, you will play a critical role in processing bi-weekly and off-cycle payrolls using UKG Pro for salaried and hourly employees across multiple states. Your attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work under tight deadlines will ensure accurate payroll processing, employee satisfaction, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
About the Role: This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your expertise in payroll processing, time management, and data analysis to drive business growth and excellence. Key responsibilities include:
- Audit employee time and labor data, interact with supervisors as required, and resolve discrepancies.
- Approve bi-weekly timesheets and PTO requests to build the time import file for payroll in UTM.
- Process bi-weekly and off-cycle payrolls, validate shift differentials, and ensure accuracy of federal, state, and local taxes, social security contributions, employee benefit contributions, fringe benefits, garnishments, and other deductions.
- Assist with balancing payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.
- Research and respond to employee inquiries regarding paycheck amounts, deductions, leave accruals, direct deposit, and other concerns.
- Accurately process garnishments and communicate garnishment information to all parties.
- Lead year-end payroll processes and tax allocations for employees with secondary work locations.
- Develop and deliver payroll training initiatives, including presentation development.
- Maintain confidentiality, monitor departmental emails, and liaison with UKG regarding payroll and UTM system issues.
About You: To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A minimum of five (5) years payroll processing experience as Administrator or Analyst and CPP certification preferred.
- Experience working in large, multi-state environments, preferably in Canada or globally.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, and intermediate to advanced proficiency in UKG Pro Payroll.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with departments and external partners.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and adapt to changing priorities.
Salary: The estimated annual salary range for this position is $65,000 - $90,000 based on location and industry standards.
