Assistant Director, Financial Aid Specialist

The Assistant Director, Financial Aid assists financial aid leadership in managing the daily operations of the office and processing financial aid in a timely manner. This position manages assigned financial aid programs such as work study programs, WAFSA applications, and Passport to College.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the management of daily operations of the financial aid office
- Manage assigned financial aid programs such as work-study programs, WAFSA applications, and Passport to College
- Assist in development and maintenance of comprehensive office procedures, training, cross-training, and professional development
- Monitor and ensure compliance with financial aid requirements; apply and interpret federal, state, and local regulations and standards
- Counsel students and make appropriate referrals to college and community resources
- Effectively use available technology and software to maintain and analyze student financial aid information
- Determine and process student financial aid awards, refunds and repayments
- Assist with outreach activities and dissemination of financial aid information to the campus community as appropriate; coordinate and conduct student orientations, community workshops and loan counseling sessions
- Supervise, train, and evaluate assigned staff; develop and monitor staff annual growth/professional development plans; back up other college staff as necessary
- Represent the college at professional and community organizations; Assist financial aid leadership and other college administrators with strategic planning, business planning, and other initiatives as necessary;
- Bachelor's degree
- Three or more years of progressively responsible experience in financial aid
- Excellent office skills, including computer skills in design and usage of word processing, spreadsheets, databases, report generators, and Internet
