About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced State Government Relations & Public Affairs Lead to join our Corporate Affairs Team at UCB. This hybrid role, based in Raleigh, North Carolina, will cover multiple states and require up to 20% travel to existing UCB sites domestically.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage state government relations within assigned states
  • Supervise local lobbying counsel and manage patient advocacy groups
  • Collaborate with field leadership, sales teams, and partners to develop and execute strategies to advance legislative policies
  • Monitor and track relevant state legislative and policy issues
  • Create background and communication materials for various audiences
  • Implement lobbying and stakeholder-specific campaigns
  • Build relationships with key business leaders and engage with UCB facilities, including employee programming
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required; MS, MPH, MPP, JD, or MSc preferred
  • Three years in state-based biopharmaceutical policy required
  • Experience in government relations at the state or federal level is required
  • Experience coordinating political action committees is required
  • Senior Manager: Three years of experience required
  • Associate Director: Seven+ years of experience required
  • Trade association experience is preferred
  • Healthcare experience is required, pharmaceutical experience is preferred
  • Five years in analysis, writing, and public policy documents
