Software Developer

The Computers Unlimited team is seeking a skilled Software Developer to join our development group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for continuing the development of our software system, TIMS, by adding new applications, improving existing features, and maintaining a high-quality product that is error-free and cost-effective.
This is an exempt position that reports directly to the manager of the applicable development group.
Responsibilities & Duties:
As a Software Developer, you will be responsible for:
- Writing well-engineered code and participating in code reviews
- Performing unit and preliminary system testing
- Maintaining existing programs and working on special customer requests
- Creating and maintaining program reference documentation and preparing testing instructions for Software Testers
- Developing code that is consistent with system standards, secure, easy to use, and well-integrated into the entire system
- Working with software testers to ensure a quality product that is functional, flows logically, and has a user-friendly interface
- Acting as a resource to assist in resolving escalated customer issues and training other personnel
- Assisting with the successful execution of the annual users group conference
- Meeting deadlines and completing scheduled work within budget and allotted time
Required Skills & Abilities:
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and abilities:
- Analyze, understand, and approach projects in a logical and systematic manner
- Have a complete understanding of programming tools and proficiency in programming languages
- Communicate effectively both in writing and verbally, be organized, and show attention to detail
- Work independently and/or on a team, prioritize tasks, and handle competing deadlines
- Follow security and confidentiality standards
Education & Experience:
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field that includes programming languages or equivalent is required. Previous experience in technical or business programming is preferred.
Travel/Working Conditions:
This position will be performed in our Billings, Montana office location. At the discretion of the manager, the duties may also be performed fully remote from within one of the states we operate, or hybrid. Remote individuals will be expected to travel to the office in Montana at least once per year.
Pay Range and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $70,000 to $120,000 DOE. The position is eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401k with company match, life insurance, PTO, and voluntary disability benefits.
