Adjunct Faculty in Social Sciences

We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty member to teach classes in Social Sciences at Southwestern Oregon Community College. The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in Social Sciences or a related field and a minimum of two years of demonstrated college teaching experience.
Key Responsibilities- Teach various courses in Social Sciences, including History, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, and Humanities.
- Use instructional methodology appropriate to the audience and to the student, including lecture, demonstration, group discussion, technology-enhanced delivery, and distance delivery.
- Evaluate students in accordance with the criteria in the course outline and other applicable college policies and procedures.
- Create a course syllabus for each course taught, including course learning outcomes, course structure, materials to be covered, grading criteria, due dates for materials, exam dates, and office hours.
- A Master's degree in Social Sciences or a related field.
- A minimum of two years of demonstrated college teaching experience, preferably in a community college.
- Knowledge and ability to instruct various audiences, both individuals and groups, taking into account various learning modalities and methods.
- Ability to work effectively and sensitively with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds and perspectives.
- Ability to evaluate student progress both empirically and holistically and to prescribe and develop curriculum materials for individuals and classes.
- Applicants possessing one or more of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities will receive preferred consideration through the selection process.
Must reside in the State of Oregon. Southwestern Oregon Community College is unable to support out of state employment at this time.
