Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Patrol Aide to join our team at the City of Chesapeake. As a Patrol Aide, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of our community by assisting with traffic control, responding to reports of disabled vehicles, and conducting searches for missing persons.

Responsibilities
  • Assist sworn officers with traffic control at scenes of vehicle accidents
  • Direct and control traffic at school crossings and special events
  • Respond to reports of disabled vehicles, assist disabled motorists, and provide traffic control as needed
  • Complete phone reports and investigate abandoned vehicles
  • Collect evidence relating to minor property crimes as directed by a supervisor
  • Conduct searches for missing persons
  • Transport police department vehicles for maintenance and repairs
  • Assist with parking violations at locations without disorderly subjects on scene
  • Provide information and assistance to the public, informing citizens of services in the community, or providing referrals to other city, county, or state agencies
  • Prepare written reports, forms, and other documents as required
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • No prior experience is required, but a valid driver's license and driving record in compliance with City Driving Standards are essential
  • Must meet the same minimum qualifications as a sworn officer except for age
