Job Summary

The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Nurse (OB) to join our team. As an OB Nurse, you will provide professional nursing care to patients in a general hospital and ambulatory care setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patient care needs through physical, psychosocial, educational, and discharge needs specific to pregnancy, laboring, post-partum OB/GYN, surgical, and newborn patients.
  • Develop and implement nursing interventions based on the plan of care and evaluate effectiveness to ensure that care plans are completed according to Acute Care Standards and based on the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients.
  • Administer therapeutic measures as prescribed by the physician, such as medications, treatments, procedures, intravenous fluids, and blood transfusions, adhering to current scientific knowledge, including principles of safety and infection control.
Requirements

To qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service, performing the following type of work and/or tasks:

  • GS-05: Possession of a bachelor's degree in Nursing with no experience, or possession of a diploma or associate degree in professional nursing and one full year of professional nursing experience.
  • GS-07: A Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement provision, or a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and at least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-5 grade level).
  • GS-09: One full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-7 grade level or above) and possession of a diploma, associate degree, or Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from a professional nursing program.
  • GS-10: One full year of specialized experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
