Job Overview

Northrop Grumman is seeking a highly skilled Principal Mission Architect Engineer to join our team in Dulles, Virginia.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Concept of Operations (CONOPS) and Mission Analysis: Develop and implement comprehensive CONOPS and mission analysis strategies for space-based systems.
  • Systems Level Integration and Test: Design and execute systems-level integration and testing processes to ensure seamless operation of complex systems.
  • Mission Modeling and Simulation: Create and utilize advanced mission modeling and simulation tools to analyze and optimize system performance.
  • Verification and Validation: Develop and implement verification and validation plans to ensure system compliance with requirements and specifications.
  • Resource Logistics and Execution: Manage and coordinate resource logistics and execution plans to ensure timely and efficient delivery of projects.
  • Mission Operations Support: Provide technical support for mission operations, including planning, execution, and monitoring.
  • Model Based Systems Engineering: Apply model-based systems engineering principles to design and develop complex systems.

This position requires a unique blend of technical expertise, analytical skills, and leadership abilities to drive innovation and excellence in space-based systems.

Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) and 5 years of relevant experience; or 3 years with a Master's degree; or 0 years with a PhD;
  • In-depth understanding of systems engineering principles and practices;
  • Experience in requirements management, system architecture development, and CONOPS;
  • An active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance at the time of application, with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI approval/access;
Key Qualifications
  • Current or active TS/SCI clearance;
  • Experience working on space or ground system development programs;
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills;
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-discipline team environment;
  • Familiarity with M1 mission design, satellite ground software, and distributed modeling & simulation;
  • Expertise in model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and system of system architecture designs;
  • Proficiency in various engineering tools, such as MATLAB, STK, and similar software.
Salary Range

The estimated salary range for this position is $107,300 - $160,900 per year, based on qualifications and experience.
