About the Role

We are seeking a Medical Lab Specialist to join our team at St. Luke's Health System in Ontario, Oregon.

Job Overview

This is a key role in our clinical laboratory where you will be responsible for performing routine tests to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.

You will work with moderately complex issues and problems, relying on your experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

A general degree of creativity and latitude is required for this position.

You may also have the opportunity to act as a mentor/trainer to junior members of the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Test specimens accurately, efficiently, and according to laboratory procedures and policies.
  • Collect various types of specimens as required by specific section needs.
  • Ensure specimens are properly identified, collected, labeled, and stored.
  • Perform instrument maintenance according to section procedures.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  • Follow department policy and maintain accurate and complete records and documentation.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a scientific related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
  • Certification in one of the following areas: Blood Banking, Chemistry, Cytogenetics, Hematology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Medical Lab Scientist, or Medical Technologist.
