Job Description

At Northwell Health, we are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct Patient Interviews: Conduct thorough patient interviews to gather information about their medical history, current health status, and any concerns they may have. Explain policies and procedures to patients and their families, and answer any questions they may have.
  2. Assess Patient Health Status: Assess patients' gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, and neurological health status, as well as their mobility, sensory deficits, prostheses use, and skin condition. Determine the level of pain and pain management needed, and communicate and document patients' physiologic health status and plan of care.
  3. Develop Patient Care Plans: Develop patient care plans that take into account patients' psychosocial health status, their perception of medical and nursing care, and their expectations of care. Identify patients' needs for teaching based on their psychosocial and developmental assessment, and develop patient outcome statements and establish individualized patient goals.
  4. Implement Care Plans: Implement care plans that prioritize the cost-effective use of supplies, equipment, and medication. Document the plan of care and collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes.
  5. Provide Emotional Support: Provide emotional support to patients and their families, and apply scientific principles in performing procedures. Reassess patients as needed and revise care plans accordingly.
  6. Administer Medications: Administer medications correctly and safely, and educate patients and their families about drug and food interactions.
  7. Participate in Patient Education: Participate in patient and family education, and provide patients with explanations of their condition as indicated. Communicate assessment data in an orderly fashion by recording, updating, and verbalizing pertinent information to care team members and appropriate agencies.
  8. Perform Related Duties: Perform related duties as required, and participate in performance improvement activities to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, preferred
  • Current License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed
