Wildlife Conservation Assistant

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Wildlife Conservation Assistant to join our team at the DuPage Wildlife Conservation Center. This seasonal position is perfect for individuals who are passionate about animal welfare and conservation.

In this role, you will assist in the daily care of rehabilitating wildlife, including feeding, watering, cleaning, and monitoring health. You will also be responsible for maintaining enclosures, providing enrichment activities, and keeping accurate records.

The ideal candidate will have a basic knowledge of animal behavior and training practices. Previous experience in animal care or handling is preferred, but not required. The ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks is essential.

• Provide daily care for rehabilitating wildlife, including feeding, watering, cleaning, and monitoring health.
• Maintain clean and safe living environments for animals.
• Assist with enclosure maintenance, including replacement of furniture and perches, and provision of enrichment activities.
• Clean and disinfect equipment, including cages, towels, and dishes.
• Keep accurate records, including progress notes for patient animals.
• Transport wildlife safely using cargo vans for release in new settings.

• 18 years of age or older.
• Valid Driver's License in good standing.
• 1 year of previous experience in animal care or handling preferred.
• BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF ANIMAL BEHAVIOR.
• BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF ANIMAL TRAINING AND CARE PRACTICES.

This seasonal position runs from May 1st to September 1st and requires a commitment of four 10-hour days from 7 AM to 5:30 PM, totaling 40 hours per week. One weekend day is included in this schedule. The compensation for this position is $15.50-$16 an hour.
