Job Summary

Geisinger Health System is seeking a skilled HVAC Mechanic Zone Trade to provide expert services on all shifts in the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and related equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine equipment room checks and conduct routine preventive maintenance functions.
  • Handle work requests and respond to emergencies on various mechanical and electrical support systems.
  • Inspect and perform preventive maintenance on large tonnage central plant chilling equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic prints related to HVAC equipment.
  • Plumb, solder, and braze water, air, and high-pressure refrigerant lines.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot all types of air distribution systems.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and repair all types of heating, chilled water, condenser, glycol, and heat recovery loops.
  • Analyze, maintain, and control chemicals in chilled water, condenser water, glycol, and heating water circuits.
  • Perform the required skilled services when recovering and recycling refrigerants.
  • Maintain a knowledge base of the changing refrigerant environment.
  • Schedule and print work orders for preventive maintenance, repairs, and breakdowns utilizing the computerized preventive maintenance system.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot computerized and microprocessor-based control systems.
  • Utilize the facilities energy management program to control the environment.
  • Install and maintain refrigeration, air conditioning equipment, and instrument air compressors.
  • Repair a variety of mechanical, plumbing, electrical equipment, and general building components.
  • Respond to alarms on the message handling and building automation systems.
  • Provide first response to all types of maintenance situations or conditions.
  • Makes general equipment and systems adjustments or repairs and notifies appropriate other tradesperson or supervisor as required.
  • Order parts and materials needed and assist shops supervisors in maintaining inventory stock.
  • Initiate Facilities Operations work requests and verbal handoffs as appropriate to assure follow-through on customer and facilities concerns.
  • Communicate, work with, and assist other zone maintenance team members with their area of expertise as needed.
  • Perform routine inspections of finishes, signage, hardware, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems throughout the maintenance zone.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
  • Minimum of 4 years-Skilled labor
  • Commercial Driver's License - Class B - Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT)
  • Refrigerant Certified within 6 months of hire - Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
