Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Marine Operations Specialist to join our team at Gator Dredging.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining a work boat in a marine construction or dredging environment. This is a challenging opportunity for someone with experience in dredging or marine construction who can demonstrate their ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Anticipate and respond to the needs of the crew and dredge operator by positioning the work boat in proximity to the work area.
  • Prepare tools and equipment for crew members, ensuring they have what they need to perform their tasks efficiently.
  • Maintain all vessel equipment in good working order, ensuring the vessel is clean, well-stocked with supplies and spare parts at all times.
  • Complete a daily boat maintenance log/checklist, which is mandatory for this role.
  • Comply with safety practices, rules, and regulations while performing job duties, and follow company procedures for reporting unsafe conditions or practices.
  • Facilitate alignment, movement of boats, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials as required.
  • Assist in performing maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Assist with washing and maintaining boats and equipment to ensure they remain in proper working order.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized, contributing to a safe and efficient working environment.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in dredging or marine construction is required for this role.
  • The successful candidate must be able to travel and provide their own tools, except for specialty tools such as a welder or compressor.
  • OSHA certification is highly desirable, as is any boating or equipment certification.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary to be maintained throughout employment.
  • The ideal candidate will be able to work outside in all weather conditions, including hot, humid, cold, and wet environments.
  • They must also possess a strong work ethic, honesty, reliability, punctuality, and a willingness to get the job done.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
  • This role requires regular use of sitting, hands, and talking/hearing, frequent reaching with hands, and occasional standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, tasting/smelling.
  • Lifting and/or moving functions include regular lifting up to 10 pounds, frequent lifting up to 25 pounds, and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
