Job Summary:


We are seeking a highly motivated Health Promotion Specialist to join our team at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing community and professional educational program plans, intervention strategies, educational trainings, meetings, and seminars to promote health and wellness in the community.


In this role, you will work collaboratively with our team of health professionals to design and deliver educational programs for patients, public, and professionals related to cancer education. You will also assist in the collection of data and resources for development and evaluation of grants/contracts, research, educational programs, educational or promotional materials in the department and through outreach programs.


We are looking for a candidate with a Master's degree in public health, health education, or a related field and the equivalent of one year of full-time experience or a combined one year of full-time experience and internship experience in a community, patient, or customer-oriented support. The ideal candidate will have experience working with community-based organizations and/or clinicians on health promotion activities/campaigns and familiarity with health care systems and/or mental health treatment facilities in western NYS.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Develop and implement community and professional educational program plans, intervention strategies, educational trainings, meetings, and seminars to promote health and wellness in the community.
  • Work collaboratively with our team of health professionals to design and deliver educational programs for patients, public, and professionals related to cancer education.
  • Assist in the collection of data and resources for development and evaluation of grants/contracts, research, educational programs, educational or promotional materials in the department and through outreach programs.
  • Train and coordinate the training curriculum for volunteers, staff, and community members as it relates to cancer and health disparities programs and interventions.
  • Write, edit, proofread, and copyedit a variety of documents for health care professionals, patients, and the lay public, including educational materials, brochures, posters, presentation materials, and articles for publication.

Required Qualifications:



  • Master's degree in public health, health education, or a related field.
  • One year of full-time experience or a combined one year of full-time experience and internship experience in a community, patient, or customer-oriented support.
  • Experience working with community-based organizations and/or clinicians on health promotion activities/campaigns.
  • Familiarity with health care systems and/or mental health treatment facilities in western NYS.

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Combination of education and relevant experiences totaling >5 years.
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing health disparities.
