About the Job:

We are seeking an experienced Test and Controls Engineer to join our team at Eaton. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining robust testing and assembly processes via controls/software. This is a challenging and rewarding role that will allow you to utilize your skills and experience to drive business growth and success.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide guidelines for the design and selection of test equipment, testing protocols, test data collection programs and best practices.
  2. Support, service, and trouble shoot test equipment and electrical systems within the plant.
  3. Develop test equipment specifications ensuring compliance with electrical safe work practices and OSHA requirements.
  4. Enforce safety expectations, document and communicate hazards and unsafe conditions to ensure a zero incident culture and product conformance to electrical safety and quality standards.
  5. Work with manufacturing, MESH, manufacturing engineering, quality, product design engineering, suppliers, and customers as needed.
  6. Perform root cause and failure analysis. Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to provide specified cost, quality, and performance in a safe and efficient manner.
  7. Guide and instruct the capital equipment selection process. Develop and evaluate Capital Appropriation Requests (CAR's) for major new product or process programs and initiatives related to testing/controls.
  8. Assess processes within manufacturing environment. Serve as a category lead or champion during an assessment process.
  9. Participate in Continuous Improvement Kaizens/BPIs.
  10. Leverage advanced technology (Industry 4.0) and innovation to improve the use and effectiveness of information systems for testing/controls.
  11. Seek opportunities to eliminate waste associated with the flow of factory floor test information. Lead or co-leads projects, develops project goals, budgets, and work breakdown structures. Proactively align cross functional resources such as Production, Quality, EHS, Maintenance, Engineering, and contractors/vendors to ensure that project goals are met.
  12. Execute sustained change management as it applies to processes within manufacturing operations. Utilize change management techniques such as ADKAR to effectively drive and sustain process improvements and usage of MOC (management of change) process.
  13. Serve as the site responsible person for electrical safety and lead the plant electrical safety efforts.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 7 years of test/controls engineering experience.
  • At least 3 years of people management experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in many computer programming software such as visual basic/studio, SQL, and other Microsoft applications
  • At least 3 years of experience with PLC, HMI programming and safety systems design.
  • At least 3 years Project Management experience
  • Experience with Rockwell Software (RS and Factory Talk), NI LabVIEW and NI Teststand
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship now or in the future
