Salary and Benefits
The starting compensation for this role is between $50,000 to $64,700. This figure may vary based on relevant professional experience, education, certifications, and tenure with Uncommon Schools. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a range of benefits, including:

Job Description
As a High School Science Educator, you will work collaboratively with your colleagues to create a supportive and engaging learning environment for our students. You will teach a curriculum that includes, but is not limited to, analysis of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Environmental Sciences that prepares students for Advanced Placement (AP) and collegiate level coursework. You will also develop students' practices skills of questioning, modeling, constructing explanations, data analysis, argumentation, and planning and conducting interactive labs. Additionally, you will create an environment where students feel confident using their voice to engage in scientific discourse.

Responsibilities
1. Instruction: Teach a rigorous and engaging science curriculum to high school students, incorporating various instructional strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners. Develop and implement lesson plans, assessments, and projects that promote critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Create opportunities for students to explore real-world applications of scientific concepts and develop a passion for scientific inquiry. Provide individualized support and scaffolding to ensure all students have access to the curriculum. Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement school-wide initiatives that promote science literacy and engagement.
2. Data Analysis: Analyze student performance data to identify areas of strength and weakness, and adjust instruction accordingly. Use data to inform decisions about instruction, pacing, and student grouping. Collaborate with colleagues to analyze school-wide data trends and develop strategies to address areas of concern.
3. School Culture: Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture that promotes social-emotional learning, academic achievement, and character development. Build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues to create a sense of community and shared responsibility for student success. Participate in school-wide events and activities that promote cultural awareness, diversity, and inclusion.

Qualifications
We are looking for an exceptional educator who has a demonstrated commitment to supporting students' social-emotional and academic development. The ideal candidate will possess:
• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (prior to the start of employment)
• Academic expertise in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or other related fields of study
• Prior teaching experience in an urban setting (1-2 years preferred)
• Certification is not required to be hired at Uncommon, but you do need to meet NY state certification eligibility requirements
• Self-directed learner who solicits and implements feedback to improve outcomes and achieve objectives
