Licensed Vocational Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our team as an Ambulatory Care Specialist. In this role, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to patients and families in a fast-paced ambulatory setting.
Key Responsibilities- Provide physical care and emotional support to patients and families under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager and Medical Director.
- Participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care and treatment plans; observe, report, and record pertinent patient information into the electronic health record system in accordance with Dermatology Service protocols.
- Support and reinforce patient teaching plans, educate patients about proper use of medications, and provide instruction on wound care.
- Administer medications within parameters defined by the Dermatology Service after successful orientation; perform nursing procedures within the parameters defined by the Dermatology Service.
- Photograph patients with various skin conditions using a variety of photographic procedures, techniques, and equipment.
- Participate in Quality Assurance activities; support peers and colleagues in maintaining established standards of care.
- Identify patient care needs and utilize nursing resources appropriately.
- Triage patient urgent clinical calls, which may result in scheduling patient appointments, as well as Telehealth appointments.
- Inform patients of pathology, lab results, and plan of care.
- Utilize In-Basket messages to monitor all biopsies and ensure that all necessary therapies are administered as scheduled by the physician.
- Provide clinical nursing coverage across the Medical Dermatology specialty services.
- Obtain prior authorizations for medications as needed.
- Participate in developing and implementing new ideas in nursing practice; participate in daily activities conducive to the comfort and safety of patients, visitors, and staff.
- Appropriately utilize and conserve equipment and supplies; order medical supplies and maintain appropriate inventories.
- Provide input to the Nurse Manager regarding perceived unit needs; participate in unit and service committees.
- Ensure that the physical environment is maintained; establish and enforce annual fire and safety regulations for the practice, following established protocols, and ensuring compliance with the Joint Commission, OSHA, and Hospital guidelines.
- Troubleshoot routine/non-routine problems and take measures to correct/handle issues.
- The individual in this position must demonstrate appropriate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the patient.
- In addition, he/she must possess the ability to assess patient data relative to age-specific needs and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures.
- Consider feedback from patients, families, and visitors and provide to the Nurse Manager for practice improvement.
- BLS and ACLS
- National Institutes of Health (NIH)
- Certified Principal Investigator (CPI) Certification
- Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
- The ability to stand for extended periods
- Strong technical skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Passionate about patient care
- Requires a minimum of two years of current LVN Telemetry experience
- Graduate from a fully accredited LVN program
- Active unencumbered LVN Tennessee state license
- One year of Epic experience
- Phlebotomy experience strongly preferred
- COVID vaccine with 2 Shots & Booster
- Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills
- Participates in relevant continuing education programs
- Knowledge of and dedication to the highest patient care and provide the utmost service excellence to all patients
- Ability to take initiative and to exercise independent judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving expertise
- A can-do, team-oriented attitude is essential, as the ability to work independently and to interact easily with physicians, other managers, and staff throughout the department and hospital
- Effective interpersonal/communication, organizational, and the flexibility to handle multiple tasks
