Job Summary

The Quality Inspector plays a critical role in ensuring the quality of manufactured parts at Horst Engineering & Mfg Co. This position involves verifying the conformance of manufactured parts to controlled documentation and supplier requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform layout inspection on all levels of manufactured parts.
  • Ensure manufactured parts meet blueprint, operation sheet, or other specification requirements.
  • Prioritize job assignments within the quality inspection area.
  • Interact with all levels of associates regarding quality issues.
  • Verify rejections prior to submitting to quality clinic.
  • Liaison between Quality and Engineering to facilitate communication and activity.
  • Perform all responsibilities of a Quality Inspector.
  • Responsible for creation of documentation related to FAI forms and submission as required, creation of Inspection Method Sheet (IMS) forms and perform duties related.
Requirements
  • College degree or High School diploma/GED and equivalent work experience.
  • Must be able to read and write comments. Interpret and understand operation sheets/blueprints, purchase orders, specifications, and all applicable Company/Customer paperwork.
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills as well as strong analytical and shop math skills.
  • Able to interpret blueprints and apply geometric dimensioning and tolerance requirements.
  • Identify areas of opportunity for improvement (departmental and individual) and suggest changes. Skilled in the use of inspection gaging (micrometer, caliper, height stand, indicator, optical comparator, tri-roll type gaging, Keyence Scanning, etc.)
