About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educator to join our team at Meriden YMCA. As an Educator, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and education to children in our program.

Responsibilities:
  • Teaching and Caregiving: Assist teachers in planning and implementing educational activities, provide one-on-one attention to children, and promote social and emotional development.
  • Classroom Management: Help maintain a safe and organized classroom environment, supervise children during meals and outdoor activities, and ensure adherence to program policies and procedures.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues, maintain confidentiality, and respond to parental inquiries and concerns.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Child Development Associate (CDA) credential preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with children in a childcare or educational setting.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, and commitment to providing high-quality care and education to children.
Working Conditions:
  • Physical Demands: Occasional need to provide gentle physical restraint to children, must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
  • Work Environment: Classroom setting with some office work required, occasional travel for conferences and meetings.

Estimated Salary: $25,000 - $35,000 per year based on location and experience.
