Job Title: Associate Investigative Analyst

Join the City of New York Department of Investigation as an Associate Investigative Analyst and contribute to the mission of combating municipal corruption and promoting public safety.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to lead confidential and sensitive investigations into the operations, policies, programs, and practices of the New York City Police Department (NYPD). As an Associate Investigative Analyst, you will review selected operations, policies, programs, and practices of the NYPD using an investigative data-driven approach to identify areas of concern and opportunities for improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough investigations into NYPD operations, policies, programs, and practices
  • Review and analyze complex documents, data, and evidence to identify areas of concern and opportunities for improvement
  • Develop and implement recommendations for reforms in policing based on investigative findings, best practices, and research
  • Monitor and produce reports documenting the extent to which NYPD implements recommendations
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement investigative strategies
  • Assist with training and mentoring of agency staff
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A four-year high school diploma or its equivalent, or a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
  • Four years of satisfactory full-time experience in an industrial or governmental agency in the field of investigation, auditing, law enforcement, security, inspections, or a major operational area of the agency
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in statistical software packages and Microsoft Office programs
Preferred Qualifications

We are particularly interested in candidates with:

  • Graduate degree in a relevant field
  • Leadership and conflict resolution skills
  • Familiarity with NYPD procedures, operations, and regulations, and New York City government
  • Knowledge and proficient use of statistical software packages, such as SPSS, Stata, SQL, Python, R, and Tableau
  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
