Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our team as a Clinical Care Specialist. The successful candidate will provide diagnostic and therapeutic medical care and services under the direct supervision of a licensed physician in a clinical setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide medical care and services to developmentally disabled adults in a residential setting
  • Work with psychiatrists to review patient consultations and provide psychiatric medication data for the behavior Support Plan (BSP)
  • Collaborate with the Infection Control/Medical Clinic Nurse to provide assistance as needed
  • Participate in committee work as needed
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Maintain thorough medical record documentation
  • Update the supervising physician/Medical Director on acute problems or unresolved chronic issues
  • Initiate outside consultations with sub-specialists as needed
  • Work with psychologists to determine capability of an individual to consent for procedures and operations
  • Provide training to unit personnel and individuals on specific treatment procedures
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Maintain a leadership role in patient advocacy

Requirements:

  • Current registration as a Physician Assistant by the New York State Education Department or possess a limited permit to practice as a Physician Assistant in New York State
  • Knowledge of BLS with AED resuscitation
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
