Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Nurse Supervisor to join our team at Hillsides. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising healthcare services and protecting clients while in their care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise healthcare services and protect clients while in their care
  • Represent the nursing office at assigned weekly team meetings
  • Transcribe orders, receive verbal orders as needed, and send orders to pharmacy per department protocols
  • Administer medications as directed according to agency policy
  • Administer first aid as needed
  • Review lab results with Nursing Supervisor and Psychiatrist
  • Review/prepare and distribute special menus in collaboration with Nursing Supervisor
  • Visit and evaluate asthmatic clients on a monthly basis, or more frequently if necessary, and maintain spirometer readings
  • Schedule individual and group asthma teaching sessions
  • Participate in programs designed to help clients acquire socially acceptable habits of behavior
  • Participate in programs designed to help clients accept their medical conditions and handle them appropriately
  • Use appropriate authority to set limits for behavior while clients are in the nurses office
  • Maintain complete, accurate records of all medications administered outlined in agency policy
  • Learn and become familiar with Hillsides pharmacy recordkeeping and legalities involved
  • Provide office coverage in the absence of the Nursing Supervisor
  • Prepare memos and letters as needed
  • Maintain client charts as needed, filing pertinent doctor appointments and psychiatric notes
  • Transport clients to doctor appointments as required, or for other medical needs, and prepare related paperwork in conjunction with Nursing Supervisor
  • Weigh and measure clients and maintain monthly records
Requirements
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, office personnel, other employees, and the general public
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret manuals and office documents
  • Ability to define problems, gather, transcribe, and post data, analyze, synthesize, and classify information, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to work independently and with others, including other employees, clients, and members of the public, in face-to-face and telephonic contexts
  • Ability to multi-task, establish priorities, and manage time, meet deadlines, and perform duties under time constraints
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing work demands
  • Maintain a high level of concentration and attention to detail for extended periods of time
  • Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints
  • Maintain a high level of ethical and professional standards in accordance with agency and community policy
Work Environment

Regularly work indoors and outdoors in a variety of environments. High level of exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
