Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Education Assistant to join our team at Ombudsman Educational Services. As an Education Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing individualized supervision and instruction to assigned students, as well as additional support to the core classroom staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist classroom teachers in creating a safe and welcoming learning environment that fosters high expectations of student learning.
  • Implement individualized instruction and monitoring of students during lessons to ensure fidelity of instruction.
  • Utilize instructional strategies to assist students with learning and help them meet requirements for course completion.
  • Monitor student progress and communicate with classroom teachers to ensure consistency and effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and ensure students have access to necessary course materials.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by upholding the ChanceLight philosophy and policies.
  • Support students with academic issues and provide encouragement to help them succeed.
  • Participate in school meetings, student/parent meetings, and individual student advisory meetings as required.
  • Communicate student needs and progress to team members, supervisors, and parents in collaboration with classroom teachers.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent with passage of basic skills test.
  • Associate degree or higher in a relevant field of study preferred.
  • Licensed as or have the ability to obtain a paraprofessional, paraeducator, educational aide, or teaching assistant credential.
  • Experience working with children with autism spectrum disorders and/or related disabilities.
  • Advanced oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Solid motivational skills and willingness to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and new initiatives.
