Mammography Tech Role Overview
At Memorial Hermann Health System, we prioritize delivering high-quality care and exceptional patient experiences through advanced mammography radiographic procedures. This position involves preparing patients for exams, ensuring radiation safety compliance, and performing quality assurance on diagnostic equipment.

Estimated Annual Salary: $65,000-$90,000 based on experience and qualifications in the Houston area. Responsibilities
  • Perform mammography radiographic exams on patients, adhering to all radiation safety protocols: prepare patients for the exam, explain the procedure, administer contrast when necessary, position patients appropriately, select suitable imaging techniques, and ensure technical image quality.
  • Enter and monitor patient data.
  • Conduct quality assurance on mammography equipment, possibly assisting with initial and renewal applications for accreditation.
  • Identify and report any accidents, complaints, or equipment malfunctions to department management.
  • Take emergency calls within the department.
  • Ensure safe care for patients, staff, and visitors; adhere to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, productivity, and quality of service.
  • Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; support department-based goals that contribute to the organization's success; serve as a preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
  • Demonstrate commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences. Model Memorial Hermann's service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized, and efficient experiences for patients and colleagues.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology; graduate of an approved program of Mammography Technology.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Certified in Basic or Advanced Life Support; current license or temporary license by the Texas Medical Board (MRT), required; Registered Radiology Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-R); Registered Mammography Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-M).
  • Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Ability to lift and/or maneuver patients in conjunction with others to perform job functions.
