Job Summary

Massachusetts General Hospital(MGH) is seeking a skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our team. As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality imaging services to patients in a Level I Trauma hospital institution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of patient contact duties related to the operation of radiologic equipment to make clinical diagnostic X-ray images as directed by a physician.
  • Explain safety protocols and routine diagnostic procedures to patients.
  • Conduct equipment system warm-up and quality assurance procedures per established guidelines to ensure a safe and effective equipment operation.
  • Follow Radiology Patient Identification Policy and correctly interpret exam requests.
  • Position and follow Emergency, Inpatient and Outpatient exam protocols for patients of all ages, level of acuity and body habitus.
  • Utilize immobilization and supportive devices to obtain the desired radiographic positions and to ensure patient safety.
  • Select radiographic exposure factors for procedures using the principle of ALARA.
  • Maintain a high level of image quality when archiving exams to PACS to ensure all images are of the correct patient, correct exam, correct labeling, positioning and orientation.
  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of Radiation Safety, and Hospital and Departmental Policies.
  • Responsible for mentoring imaging students and new employees following the MGH mission statement.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • ARRT Certification, and Massachusetts DPH Radiologic Technologist License required.
  • BLS required.
  • Experience is preferred, new grads are considered.
