Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Academic Outreach Coordinator to join our team at Wayne State University. This role will be responsible for representing and promoting the university within a defined travel recruitment territory.

Responsibilities:
  • Represent and promote Wayne State University within a defined travel recruitment territory, attending high school visits, college fairs, community college events, professional conferences, community engagement events, and alumni activities.
  • Prepare reports on applicants, admits, and enrollments for assigned recruitment territory.
  • Meet with prospective students and their parents to provide academic, career, and admissions advice.
  • Review admission applications and render admission decisions, responding to requests for information.
  • Plan, organize, implement, and participate in a wide range of recruitment and outreach programs for first-year and transfer students.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; Master's degree required for University Counselor I.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to use own vehicle for travel, including work nights and weekends.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, analytical and problem-solving ability, excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Previous Admissions Office experience, contact involvement with high schools, community colleges, and other secondary institutions, program development, evaluation, and reporting experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of computer applications and industry-related systems, willingness and ability to travel independently, demonstrated positive interpersonal skills, ability to work well with the public, communicate effectively, and project a positive image.
  • Demonstrated public speaking skills, ability to present the university in a positive way to diverse populations, demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a team, proficiency in a language other than English.
Estimated Salary Range:

$50,840 - $70,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
