PKF O'Connor Davies seeks an accomplished Tax Manager or Director to lead our tax engagements and deliver exceptional income tax services to our diverse client base.

This individual will be responsible for advising clients on the tax implications of their business objectives, evaluating and selecting actions to minimize tax burden and compliance costs, and identifying different methods of complying with tax regulations. The primary client contact for complex tax issues will be this individual.

In addition to tax compliance on individual, corporate, partnership, and trust returns, the ideal candidate should be comfortable with these areas.

Below are some essential duties of the position:

  • Build new and existing client relationships and demonstrate a basic understanding of client businesses.
  • Work closely with Tax Partners to meet planning and compliance needs.
  • Understand and manage firm risk on tax services performed.
  • Review and prepare federal and state income tax returns for individuals, corporations, and partnerships.
  • Prepare research memoranda, written correspondence/guidance, and other documents.
  • Train and supervise staff, reviewing and evaluating their work.
  • Manage multiple clients, budgets, and production goals.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college/university and at least 10 years of progressive tax experience in public accounting. A CPA, EA, JD, CFP, or other relevant certification is required. Proficiency in complex tax compliance and review is necessary, as well as strong analytical and accounting skills. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are also required. The ideal candidate will have experience as a team leader, supervising and training teams to create a culture of trust, seeking diverse views to encourage improvement and innovation, and coaching staff through timely, meaningful written and verbal feedback. Strong knowledge of risks associated with technical tax positions and ability to communicate these risks to partners is also required. Ability to work additional hours as needed to meet client deliverables and must have access to a car and be willing to travel locally to clients when required.

We estimate the annual salary for this position to be between $120,000 and $180,000 based on the location and industry standards.
