Job Title: Physical Therapist, Staff

The Physical Therapist, Staff, is a key member of our healthcare team, responsible for providing high-quality physical therapy services to patients in accordance with the diagnosis and prescription of referring physicians.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough patient evaluations to assess physical conditions and develop personalized therapy plans.
  • Select and utilize appropriate rehabilitation equipment and prostheses to enhance patient mobility.
  • Monitor patient responses to therapy and make referrals to other disciplines as needed.
  • Administer various treatments, including hot and cold packs, contrast baths, ultrasound, and electro diagnostics, in accordance with NYS guidelines.
  • Provide education and training to patients on the safe use and care of durable medical equipment, including canes, crutches, walkers, braces, and prostheses.
  • Collaborate with patients to set and achieve rehabilitation goals, promoting understanding, motivation, and independence.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and statistics.
  • Participate in the on-the-job clinical training of physical therapy students as appropriate.
  • Serve as a resource for other healthcare staff, family members, and referring physicians or agency staff.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree or Doctorate from an accredited university in Physical Therapy.
  • 1-2 years' experience in acute care and/or rehabilitation, or willingness to train a new graduate.
  • Must possess a limited permit to practice physical therapy issued by the New York State Education Department, and have applied for or taken the licensing examination for physical therapy, or possess a license and current registration issued by the New York State Education Department as a Physical Therapist.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Thorough knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, neurology, neurophysiology, electrotherapy, and physics.
  • Knowledge of clinical pathology, pharmacology, and psychology.
  • Knowledge of modern physical medicine equipment, including care and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of modern physical therapy techniques and procedures, including advancements in prosthetics and orthotics.
