Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Protection Engineer to join our team at the Public Buildings Service. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing fire protection engineering and fire safety programs for federal owned and leased buildings within Region 3.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain fire protection engineering and fire safety programs to protect buildings, facilities, and occupants from fire and explosion risks.
  • Conduct systematic surveys, inspections, and fire abatement programs to ensure compliance with relevant fire safety codes and regulations.
  • Provide expert advice on fire protection engineering and fire safety issues, and develop written instructions and reference materials as needed.
  • Develop and implement emergency preparedness plans to ensure the safety of occupants and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Manage inspections of buildings and workspaces to ensure compliance with fire and work safety codes, policies, and regulations.
Requirements
  • Meet all eligibility criteria within 30 days of the closing date.
  • Meet time-in-grade within 30 days of the closing date, if applicable.
  • US Citizenship or National (Residents of American Samoa and Swains Island).
Qualifications

To be eligible for this position, you must have a degree in professional engineering or a combination of college-level education, training, and/or technical experience. You must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level or higher in the Federal service, including experience in fire protection engineering and fire safety programs.
