Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Control Systems Specialist to join our team at Magnum Hunt. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing controls programming, detailing, and limited design, field, and start-up duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and track own work flow effectively.
  • Provide others with required sketches, markups, and direction for completion of tasks.
  • Generate drawings from adequately prepared notes and reference material to standards.
  • Prepare transmittals for materials sent out of the office.
  • Perform basic detail controls design based on proposal or existing system design.
  • Verify conformance to all applicable codes and standards involved in design.
  • Perform basic programming, including learning various new languages.
  • Perform basic operator interface applications, including learning various new operator interface packages.
  • Assist in startup and debug of control systems and software.
  • Represent the company in a positive manner.
Requirements
  • Working knowledge of personal computing systems.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Working knowledge of general control design methods.
  • Ability to understand mechanical systems.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Working knowledge of general programming design methods.
  • Ability to understand controls systems.
Client/People Management Ratio

Less than 10% of their time is spent in Client/People Management.

Less than 20% of their technical time is spent as an Architect (building a framework to meet the client's needs and applies appropriate standards); most of the technical time is spent as a builder (builds and programs the actual system components and follows applicable standards).

Recommendations, Decisions and Commitments

Few technical decisions called for and these will be of routine nature with ample precedent or clearly defined procedures as guidance.

Works under close supervision.

Work is reviewed for accuracy and adequacy and conformance with prescribed procedures.

Duties are assigned with detailed oral and occasionally written instructions, as to methods and procedures to be followed.

Results are usually reviewed in detail and technical guidance is usually available.

Leadership Authority and/or Supervision Exercised

May assign and check work of one to five peers or helpers.

May peer review work.

Does not supervise other Controls Specialist/junior engineers.

Guide to Entrance Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Applied Science, Technology diploma or equivalents, typically with zero to three years of experience.

Will not likely have their P.Eng./PE.

Partial knowledge of electrical standards.
