Astronomical Outreach Ambassador

A career opportunity exists at NSF's NOIRLab, a leading national center for ground-based astronomy. The position of KPVC Evening Guide is available for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable individual to engage diverse audiences in astronomy programs.

The KPVC Evening Guide will conduct Nightly Observing Programs, operate telescopes, and provide interpretive commentary to guests. This role requires strong public speaking skills, ability to work flexible hours, and a passion for astronomy.

• Conduct engaging Nightly Observing Programs with diverse audiences
• Operate telescopes and provide interpretative commentary to guests
• Provide excellent customer service and project a professional image
• Reliably report to assigned shifts and adhere to all policies and procedures

• Sufficient knowledge of observational astronomy and the night sky
• Ability to translate scientific concepts to a public audience
• Strong public speaking and teaching skills
• Flexibility to work varied schedules, including evenings and weekends
