Job Summary

Wilson Elser is seeking a highly skilled Payroll Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for optimizing our payroll processes using UKG, ensuring compliance with government regulations, and providing accurate and timely payroll processing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in payroll processing to ensure timely, compliant, and accurate processing of payroll transactions, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed, accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws, as well as adherence to industry best practices.
  • Assist with the facilitation of audits by fulfilling audit requests with substantiated records and documentation.
  • Identify opportunities for enhancing payroll systems and procedures, recommending and implementing updates as needed.
  • Perform additional tasks as required to support the payroll operation.
  • Prepare payroll and compensation-related journal entries and accruals.
  • Assist in the preparation of year-end tax forms, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with leadership and other stakeholders to effectively address and fulfill all payroll-related needs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field.
  • 3+ years' related experience required, including payroll processing.
  • Extensive knowledge of payroll functions, including payroll tax return and general ledger reconciliations, payroll internal controls, benefit taxation implications, and reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel (Pivot tables and V-lookups).
  • Strong proficiency in Ultipro/UKG/Kronos payroll software.
