Job Description

Scientific Research Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer V to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and integrating complex technical systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and evaluate complex technical problems to identify solutions that meet customer specifications, quality standards, schedule, and funding limitations.
  • Perform complex analysis on projects or major phases of significant projects to enhance the technical and economic development of the product and/or service.
  • Resolve a variety of technical problems leading to advanced engineering studies designed to increase efficiency or reduce costs.
  • Utilize design trade studies to identify the design that provides the best combination of cost and effectiveness.
  • Determine the feasibility of proposed systems, assess performance against requirements, cost and schedule feasibility, and identify potential technology needs and scope.
  • Employ the latest tools and techniques to develop models for developed and supported systems, such as MBSE.
  • Identify and document system-level qualities, properties, characteristics, functions, behavior, and performance.
  • Design, modify or reverse engineer systems to maintain interoperability with existing systems.
  • Complete detailed design of the system, fabricate hardware, and generate final designs for each system component end-product.
  • Assist with the generation of specific products or systems through buying, making, or reusing to satisfy the design requirements.
  • Ensure verified end-item satisfies the stakeholder expectations for its intended use.
  • Perform PAT E/ FAT of systems, equipment, components, and items demonstrate test-subjects meet requirements and specifications.
  • Assist with risk management planning, including planning and performing risk-handling activities, developing the strategy for technical risk management, identifying technical risks, and conducting technical risk assessments.
  • Monitor progress of the technical effort and provide status information for support of the system design, product realization, and technical management efforts.
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in Systems, Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • Fifteen years of experience at the systems level in any of the following areas: Requirements Definition, System Design Parameters, Concepts Operation, Risk Assessment, Productivity Studies/Analyses, Performance Analyses, Test and Evaluation, Post-Delivery Support.
  • Minimum Certification as 632 (or similar) at the Intermediate level per DoDD.
  • Demonstrated proficiency analyzing projects or major phases of significant projects to enhance the technical and economic development of the product.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, modify, and/or reverse engineer systems to maintain interoperability.
Desired Skills:
  • Ten (10) years' experience supporting DoD or Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Programs.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and supervising junior System Engineers.
  • Thorough understanding of NSWC operations.
  • Demonstrated expertise with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software such as Inventor or Solid Works.
  • Demonstrated experience performing Production Acceptance Test and Evaluation (PAT E)/First Article Test (FAT) of systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with Risk Management to include conducting risk assessments and developing/implementing technical risk mitigation and contingency action plans.
