Job Summary:

The City of Starkville is seeking a skilled Water Meter Specialist to join our Utility Operations team. This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate and efficient operation of water meters throughout the city. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for routine maintenance, installation, and repair of water meters, as well as performing quality control checks on new and established services.

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong understanding of automated metering systems, repair and installation methods, and material and equipment. If you have a passion for working with your hands and are comfortable in an outdoor environment, we encourage you to apply.

About the Role:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance, installation, and repair of water meters
  • Conduct quality control checks on new and established services
  • Interact with customers and public to deliver delinquency notices or other information as required
  • Maintain and gather GPS records for electric and water meters

About You:

We are looking for a highly motivated and organized individual who is comfortable working independently and as part of a team. Key qualifications include:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and AMI software
  • Valid MS driver's license and acceptable MVR
