Job Title: Advanced Product Engineer - Paint Finishing Systems
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Product Engineer to join our Paint Finishing Systems group at 3M. As a Product Engineer, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with innovative and diverse people around the world, making a significant impact on our products and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead many aspects of a product's change management process, including project management, formulation, and technical leadership.
- Initiate and lead product improvements projects, such as raw material substitutions, new product localization, and cost reduction opportunities.
- Support new product development projects by establishing raw material specifications, documenting test methods, and validating product claims.
- Maintain a close relationship and communication with key vendors and manufacturing sites.
- Develop strong product and process understanding of products, including quantitative and qualitative approaches.
- Document and implement product specifications and process standards.
- Take ownership to resolve and prevent product quality issues.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering, Chemistry, or Material Science discipline from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of one year of experience in a private, public, government, or military environment in product engineering, product development, and/or technical product support.
Additional Qualifications:
- Master's degree or higher in Engineering, Chemistry, or Materials Science based curriculum.
- Three years or more of product commercialization or project leadership experience in a private, public, government, or military environment.
- Knowledge of industrial abrasives, solvents, surfactants, emulsion, and/or mineral technologies.
- Experience translating voice of customer into product specifications, introducing new products, manufacturing scale-up, or project management.
- Experience working with global cross-functional teams and presenting to stakeholders.
Work Location: Hybrid Eligible. Job duties allow for some remote work but require travel to 3M Center in Maplewood, MN at least 3 days per week.
Travel: May include up to 15% domestic & international.
Relocation Assistance: May be authorized.
Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status.
