Job Summary:

As a Phlebotomy Supervisor at Nuvance Health, you will oversee the activities of phlebotomy staff in collecting blood and other specimens from patients for laboratory analysis. Your role will involve supervising staff, scheduling coverage, and managing daily operations to ensure efficient and effective service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of phlebotomy staff to provide high-quality service to patients.
  • Manage staff schedules, supervise daily operations, and ensure compliance with budget guidelines.
  • Conduct staff meetings, training sessions, and continuing education programs to enhance staff knowledge and skills.


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Arrange for the purchase of supplies and maintain inventory to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Prepare and maintain procedure manuals to ensure consistency of operations and a safe environment for employees.
  • Approve and maintain paid time-off records to ensure accurate compensation for employees.
  • Supervise specimen collection and patient registration at Patient Service Centers and in-hospital specimen registration and orders.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance programs and department management meetings to promote continuous quality improvement.


Requirements:

  • Associate's degree and a minimum of five years of job-related experience.
  • Certification in phlebotomy is preferred.


Working Conditions:

  • Significant manual skills and motor coordination required.
  • Some occupational risk and medium to heavy effort may be involved.
