Nights Healthcare Assistant

The Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) assists staff members with and contributes to the implementation of the total resident/patient plan of care which includes activities of daily living (eating, dressing, personal care, toileting), education, recreation, and transportation in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards of the nursing department.
The CNA is directly responsible to the RN/LPN team leader. The CNA maintains resident/patient privacy and confidentiality and performs duties in compliance with BNBs, A Member of Covenant Health, policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Assists with all resident/patient routine activities of daily living including: feeding, bathing, ambulating, skin care, demonstrating effective listening skills to provide support for resident/patient needs, taking initial vital signs and providing weights to nursing staff in a timely manner, reporting changes in vital signs or measurements promptly to the Supervisor/Charge Nurse, following procedures for Universal Precautions, monitoring and recording resident/patient intake and output in accordance with unit standards or physician orders, maintaining confidentiality of resident/patient related issues; supporting resident/patient rights, maintaining productive working relationship with healthcare team members, being a team player, courteous, diplomatic, and tactful when interacting with others, providing additional care as directed by the RN/LPN, assisting with orientation of patient/resident/family to unit, facility, and services, delivering patient/resident care promptly and accurately as directed by the RN/LPN and in accordance with plan of care, empathizing with residents, patients, and families, remaining objective in difficult circumstances, demonstrating flexibility when needed, seeking help and assisting in developing solutions for problems, and having a passion for working with long term care residents and skilled rehabilitation patients to provide excellent resident and patient care.
- Must hold an active Maine C.N.A License, ability to take initial vital signs and provide weights to nursing staff in a timely manner, ability to remain objective in difficult circumstances, ability to empathize with residents, patients, and families, and having a passion for working with long term care residents and skilled rehabilitation patients to provide excellent resident and patient care.
