About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager and Estimator to lead our team in delivering comprehensive proposals and bids for commercial, industrial, and energy sector projects in the Pittsburgh tri-state area.

Job Description

This role requires expertise in managing and estimating electrical construction projects from conception to completion. The successful candidate will have strong leadership qualities, organization skills, and a solid understanding of electrical engineering principles.

  • Prepare proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and tour job sites to confirm requisite take-offs; participate in project review meetings to assess project performance.
  • Prepare estimates by calculating complete take-off of scope of work.
  • Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including information on pricing from suppliers obtained through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, software uploads, etc.
  • Support other departments and personnel, such as mechanical, as required.
  • May review design options and recommend the best solution based on cost, engineering quality, and/or availability of materials.
  • Cultivate strong client relationships to foster repeat business and referrals, in addition to soliciting new business; engages with customers on bid-walks and provides technical expertise.
  • Provide support to field operations regarding electrical estimates.
  • Manages direct reports including scheduling, logistics, evaluations, and general operations of work site; evaluates schedule and processes to improve efficiency and quality control assurance, safety, and performance.
  • Regularly reports to and works with the executive team on setting production targets and strategy.
  • Ensure strict adherence to budgetary guidelines, quality, and safety standards.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Construction Management, or licensed journeyman or master electrician, preferred.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) as an electrical estimator and project manager in commercial and industrial settings.
  • Strong understanding of NEC and local building codes.
  • Proficiency with estimating software (Accubid) and MS Office.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification is a plus.
