The University of New Mexico Hospitals is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Nurse to join our team as a casual per diem RN. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, providing direct care to patients with various mental health needs.

About the Role:

This position requires a registered nurse (RN) who can work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. As a psychiatric nurse, you will be responsible for assessing patient needs, developing individualized care plans, and implementing interventions to promote recovery and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care: Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients, including assessments, interventions, and evaluations
  • Care Planning: Develop and implement individualized care plans that address patient-specific needs and goals
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the healthcare team to ensure seamless care coordination and communication
  • Documentation: Accurately document patient information, progress notes, and treatment plans in accordance with hospital policies
  • Safety: Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, families, and staff by following hospital safety protocols and procedures

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A current RN license in New Mexico or eligibility for licensure
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire
  • One year of experience in a psychiatric or behavioral health setting (preferred)
