We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Administrative Vice Principal to join our team at Portsmouth Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the principal in the coordination, supervision, and management of the total school program and operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of administrative duties in compliance with school division policies and legal requirements.
- Uphold effective discipline and foster a safe and positive environment for students and staff.
- Show evidence of instructional leadership and assist with the delivery of required programs or curricular areas.
- Participate in collaborative development and implementation of school improvement plans.
- Plan, implement, support, and assess instructional programs.
- Participate in the provision of staff development programs consistent with program evaluation results and school instructional improvement plans.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve problems using effective problem-solving techniques.
- Promote effective communication and interpersonal relations with students, staff, parents, and other community members.
- Work collaboratively with staff, families, and community members to secure resources and to support the success of a diverse student population.
- Model professional, moral, and ethical standards as well as personal integrity in all interactions.
- Work in a collegial and collaborative manner with other administrators, school personnel, and the community to promote and support the mission and goals of the school division.
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance student learning and provide service to the profession, the division, and the community.
The ideal candidate will possess a Postgraduate Professional License with an endorsement in Administration and Supervision in Virginia and considerable teaching experience.
