Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Dental Assistant to join our team at Lower Lights Health. As a full-time, non-exempt position, this role is responsible for assisting the dentist(s) and dental hygienist(s) in the direct provision of primary care dental services to patients. The successful candidate will also be responsible for sterilization, preparation, and inventory control of dental instruments and supplies.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Interact with patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner
  • Process patients on arrival, verifying and updating patient information
  • Process patients prior to departure from the clinic and directing them to schedule next appointment, pay account balances, etc.
  • Screen phone calls and relay accurate messages to the Staff Dentist and/or Dental Director
  • Operate the computer system efficiently to complete daily tasks
  • Monitor patient flow, and assist the Dental Director, dentist(s), and dental hygienist(s) in assuring that all patient records and documents are properly and accurately completed
  • Prepare operatory for patient treatment as per Dental Department protocols and the dentist's directions
  • Seat patients and record vital signs (i.e., Blood pressure, pulse, etc.)
  • Serve as dentist's or dental hygienist's chair-side assistant
  • If certified, perform coronal polishing for scheduled patients. Also, provide sealants to scheduled patients at the discretion of the supervising dentist
  • Make accurate entries in the patient chart per the dentist's instructions
  • Expose dental radiographs in accordance with state regulations and law as well as Dental Department directive and protocol

Qualifications and Skills: To be successful in this role, you should have:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Certified Dental Assistant from an accredited program is preferred
  • Dental Assistant Radiographer Certificate required
  • Coronal Polishing Certificate and can place pit and fissure sealants preferred
  • Current CPR (BLS) required

Salary Range: $45,000 - $55,000 per year
