The role of the bedside Licensed Practical Nurse (CLPN) is essential in delivering direct patient care and ensuring appropriate age-specific support in both Acute and Elderly Care environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Practice:
    Utilizes the nursing process to provide safe, high-quality patient care while maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Acts as Charge Nurse in the absence of the RN, adhering to the scope of practice.
  • Ensures compliance with all organizational policies and procedures as directed by management.
  • Collaborates with clinical team members for patient admissions and discharges.
  • Administers treatments, tests, and procedures, including IV therapy, within the scope of licensure.
  • Keeps a detailed record of patient care activities performed.
Education and Communication
  • Patient Education:
    Informs patients and families about medications, diagnostic tests, and treatment plans.
  • Provides educational resources for patients and families, as well as support for staff and new hires.
  • Stays updated on new medications and treatments to ensure comprehensive patient education.
Team Collaboration
  • Communication:
    Maintains open lines of communication with multidisciplinary team members to deliver holistic patient care.
  • Participates in daily team meetings to ensure effective shift assignments and collaboration.
Professional Development
  • Self-Improvement:
    Maintains professional competency by staying informed about evolving nursing practices.
  • Completes required continuing education through online and classroom formats.
