Job Summary:

The Director of Human Resources at Ivy Tech Community College is responsible for administering Human Resource policies, procedures, and practices. This includes ensuring compliance with applicable federal and state labor laws. The Director serves as a trusted advisor to college leadership, faculty, and staff on HR-related matters and ensures compliance with legal regulations and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates talent acquisition activities, including advertising and posting open positions, reference and background checks, and on-boarding and orientation.
  • Leads onboarding and new hire orientation sessions for all new hires and provides active support and counsel to hiring managers in the process.
  • Supports the recruitment process by coordinating and scheduling interviews, preparing interview materials, and assisting in the evaluation and selection of candidates for faculty and staff positions.
  • Provides well-informed counsel to managers in disciplinary situations and maintains open communication with all employees, responding to employee questions, concerns, or problems and fostering positive employee relations.
  • Interprets personnel policies and operating procedures for employees and managers on request and processes terminated/retired employees' paperwork.
  • Responds to Unemployment Claims and facilitates exit interviews and oversees the process.
  • Assists with coordination of campus/service area benefits and wellness plans and coordinates the workers' compensation program for the campus/service area.
  • Assists with the annual performance review process and annual review of job descriptions and assists with Human Resources recordkeeping and reporting functions, including all employee records and files.
  • Reviews and monitors personnel data entered in the HRS system to ensure validity and accuracy.

Requirements:

  • Minimum bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Human Resources management, personnel administration, business or public administration, industrial/labor relation, or a related field.
  • Minimum five years of increasingly responsible Human Resources experience and administrative responsibility involving program planning, assessment, implementation, and evaluation. Experience in Higher Education is desirable.
